Patrick Geren is an independent music educator, performer, & composer currently located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Most recently he taught in the greater Austin (TX) area for three years. In addition, he also works as a brass instructor with the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps (Canton, OH) serving as the lead baritone & euphonium instructor. He earned his Master’s in Performance from the University of Georgia with David Zerkel & his Bachelor’s in Music Education & Performance from Illinois State University with Dr. Andy Rummel & Dr. Mark Babbitt.

As a member of the University of Georgia Tuba Quartet, he earned honors as first runner-up in the chamber ensemble competitions at the 2014 Music Teachers National Association in Chicago and the International Tuba Euphonium Conference held at Indiana University. His original work, “Tipping Point,” was a finalist in the 2016 U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Composition Contest & was recorded by the North Texas Euphonium Quartet on their debut album, “Machines.” In 2019 he performed with the Backburner Tuba & Euphonium Collective at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference held at the University of Iowa.

His works have been published through Potenza Music, reviewed in the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA) Journal, & performed at regional & national conferences. In 2016 he founded his own publishing company, Wiley Island Press. In addition, scholarly articles of his research have been published in multiple ITEA Journals.
